The project aims to propose interventions to limit or reverse the impacts of soil sealing and increase the resilience of urban areas to climate change in three municipalities (to be selected according to the degree of sealing in those areas). These interventions comprise land use/land cover changes and/or the development of Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) in the locations identified as most vulnerable.
For this purpose, it will identify the most vulnerable intra-urban areas with the potential to reverse soil sealing (such as abandoned industrial areas, degraded vacant buildings, or car parks with non-permeable pavements), as well as those areas that would benefit from the development of NBS (e.g. the creation of green/blue infrastructure or the interconnection of existing infrastructure).
